With the digital release of Mireille’s collaboration with the Amici Chamber Ensemble (Inspired by Canada: Notre Pays), Mireille spoke to the Ottawa Citizen about the disc.

We wanted to bring together the best musical material we could find regardless of traditional classifications, and in a lot of ways that’s what makes this album so unique. Serouj and I spent the whole summer digging through the library stacks, poring through anthologies and listening to lots of great recordings to gain inspiration and see what spoke to us. There are popular tunes, jazz standards and cabaret, traditional folk songs from across the country, some orchestral music adapted for the voice, and other gems that defy categorization.
