Globe and Mail: Mireille Asselin steps into baroque era to find strong women of opera
Mireille is featured in today’s Globe and Mail in advance of her performances of Orphée⁺ with Against the Grain, April 26-28, 2018.
Though she’s not exclusively a baroque singer – her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2015 was as Poussette in Massenet’s Manon – Asselin’s instrument fits like a glove with early music. She is a favourite of Toronto’s historically informed Opera Atelier, and she sings often with the Boston Early Music Festival and other period ensembles. -Globe and Mail, full feature here.
