I’m delighted to be joining @victoriabaroque this I’m delighted to be joining @victoriabaroque this week for a mini tour of a program called Of Gods and Lovers, which I dreamed up with the ever wonderful @blumbertone and Christina Hutten. Featuring stories of gods interfering with the lives of mortals, we explore the music of Purcell, Rameau, Handel and that of two Canadian composers - James Rolfe and Danika Lorèn. In fact, we’ll be presenting the world premiere of @danikaloren ‘s new piece for soprano, baritone and chamber ensemble “Mine/Apollo&Daphne, which was written to be a companion piece to Handel’s Apollo e Dafne!

Come join us in Victoria on Friday Jan 16, Salt Spring Island on Saturday Jan 17 or Mill Bay on Sunday Jan 18. Ticket info at victoriabaroque.com

I am thrilled to be playing the role of real-life I am thrilled to be playing the role of real-life trailblazer Nellie Bly, in the opera 10 DAYS IN A MADHOUSE (By Rene Orth & Hannah Moscovitch)

In 1887, Nellie was only 23 years old when she feigned insanity to gain entry to the notorious Women’s Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell’s Island (today’s Roosevelt Island in New York City). Her reporting on the deplorable conditions inside caused a sensation and led to significant reforms and pioneered a new era of investigative journalism. Her now famous ten days as a patient/inmate are brought into vivid relief by the music of Rene Orth and the text of Hannah Moscovitch, and their opera really plunges us into the deep end of Nellie’s own descent into madness. I can’t wait to put this work on its feet with an incredible team. Come see us this June in Toronto.

Is she insane — or just pretending?

In this gripping psychological opera based on true events from 1887, trailblazing reporter Nellie Bly fakes madness to expose the truth from inside New York’s notorious Blackwell’s Asylum. What she discovers is a world where women are silenced, sanity is questioned, and power decides who is believed.

What a magical week with @bachfestmontreal perform What a magical week with @bachfestmontreal performing Mendelssohn’s Elias! Our fantastic conductor @samy_moussa_official made every moment feel electric and listening to the choir prepared by @jsvallee was total heaven. Truly a tour de force performance from them! An immense congrats to all involved, including of course my fellow soloists who were perfection. Special nod to the incredible @k.ingenpass.bariton who took on the mammoth role of Elijah on one days’ notice and delivered an utter masterclass.

Bravo au Festival de Bach de Montréal pour ces deux concerts émouvants. Je me sens très chanceuse d’avoir été parmi vous. ❤️ à la prochaine xo
